Principal's Message

Greetings, Anderson Heights Stars!

I am so excited to welcome you to the 2022-23 school year! My name is Carrie Norris, and I am the new principal. A little about me…I have been a principal for ten years. I used to be a teacher at Verde Vale in the district, and I graduated from West Valley High School. I am so glad to be back in the Anderson area. I look forward to meeting each and every one of you as the year progresses. I love kids, and this is my dream job, getting to work with kids all day long! Here at Anderson Heights, we have some guiding rules that we live by: We are Safe! We are Responsible! We are Kind and Respectful! We are Ready to Learn! We encourage you to ask your child what they did to be safe, responsible, kind, respectful, and ready to learn each day. We will be looking for multiple ways to recognize students who we see doing these things. Parent involvement is a priority here at Anderson Heights. Stay up to date on school information by connecting to Parent Square, our Facebook page, Instagram, and more. We encourage you to get involved in our Anderson Heights Parent Club, chaperone on a field trip, volunteer in the classroom, help on the playground, or listen to students read. There are a multitude of ways for you to be involved at school. Our teachers and staff have been planning all summer, attending multiple trainings, and resting up to be ready to welcome our students back in August. Some things you might notice is our Second Step Social Emotional Curriculum being taught, teaching students to respect others and themselves, how to solve problems, and so much more. You might also notice reading intervention and differentiated instruction blocks in every grade level's daily schedule, where students receive instruction at their level. You will also see a renewed focus on teaching science and social studies, and reading and writing across all subjects. We will also be focusing on academic conversations. It’s going to be an exciting year! The first day of school is on August 17th. School begins at 8:00 AM. TK-3rd are dismissed at 2:00 PM and 4th and 5th are dismissed at 2:03 PM. It is very important that students arrive on time. We teach bell to bell at Anderson Heights, and we don’t want your child missing any valuable learning opportunities. Students may be dropped off as early as 7:30 AM. There is no supervision on campus before this time. Breakfast is served in the cafeteria between 7:30-8:00 AM daily.

Thank you for choosing Anderson Heights Elementary School! Principal Carrie Norris & The Anderson Heights Staff
