Department Staff:

Director of Technology Services - Mr. Tony Baldwin

Mr. Baldwin joined our district in 1995. He was our very first Technology Coordinator, later becoming our Technology Director. In addition to going room-to-room to help with technology projects and problems, he worked hard to help build our district's first real technology system, including Local Area Networks at each of the school sites. This allowed our teachers and students to share resources and communicate across campus. He then helped build a Wide Area Network, which linked the entire district together, and enabled more efficient internet access and email, across the district.

He has helped to "computerize" many areas of operation within our district, including student attendance and information management, food service accounting, library services, general office procedures, and more.

Mr. Baldwin continues to help the district maintain a very solid technology infrastructure, and works to keep Cascade recognized as a Shasta County leader in the real-time usage of technology in our classrooms, labs and offices.

He is currently serving as the Chairman of the Shasta County Educational Technology Advisory Group. "ETAG" is a group of technicians representing schools and districts across Shasta County. Their mission is to provide direction, oversight and cooperative assistance as educational technology continues to grow in importance and infrastructure in our schools.

Mr. Baldwin enjoys working with young people, and has been a volunteer coach in baseball, football, wrestling and soccer for more than 20 years. He worked as a technology expert in private business for more than 12 years before he moved into Educational Technology. "I enjoy the feeling of contributing in a support role to the education of students," says Mr. Baldwin. "It is very fulfilling and has made it a very enjoyable experience, to be here in Cascade."

Technology Services Assistant - Mr. Joshua Carlson

Mr. Carlson joined the district in December of 2003. He is on a traveling schedule and visits each school site for one day each week.

Josh is an excellent hardware and software technician. He is also involved as a trainer for our staff, helping them to learn new programs and how to use them in the classroom.

Josh has several years' experience as a hardware, software and network technician for a local internet service provider. This solid background of experience has lent itself nicely to Josh's quick start here in Cascade.

Josh is enjoying his job here at Cascade very much, and brings a great level of enthusiasm and a real "can-do" attitude to our technology department. "I am enjoying this position more than any I have held in the past," say Mr. Carlson. He also says he wants to be a member of the CUESD Technology Team, "for a long, long, time."

We are working hard in Technology Services, to provide the link of solid support and facilities management which is needed to make technology productive in education, both in the classroom and in the office environment.
